ORLANDO, Fla. (AP) -- A monthlong layoff and an ankle injury did little to slow down Kliff Kingsbury.
"Five thousand yards, that's a big number," Kingsbury said. "That shows how well our offense played this season."
Texas Tech (9-5) won its first bowl game since beating Air Force in the 1995 Copper Bowl and gave coach Mike Leach his first postseason victory.

A look at the Elite Eight
Posted on: 04/02/2003 by: Travel4Sports Administrator

The Elite Eight field is set. And so far, the chalk has held up. For just the second time in NCAA Tournament history -- and first since 1988 -- all four No. 1 and 2 seeds will meet in the regional finals.

These teams play very similarly. They both have star players, very good shooters, active rebounders and solid supporting casts. Both also are physical and have depth.

Like Tennessee, UConn is playing really well right now, and any questions we had about the Huskies' freshmen being able to rise to the occasion have been answered. With three tournament games behind them, experience is no longer an issue.

Everyone knows UConn graduated four starters from last season's NCAA championship team. Those four averaged 53.4 points per game last season. Tyson and Lewis set for double-header
Posted on: 04/02/2003 by: Travel4Sports Administrator

Mike Tyson and Lennox Lewis could both fight on the same bill in June - but not against each other.

Talks are under way for the two heavyweights to appear in separate fights of a heavyweight double-header.

The bouts could take place on 21 June with the Ralph Wilson Stadium in Buffalo, New York State, the home of the Buffalo Bills, one of the preferred venues.

Possible opponents for Lewis include Vitali Klitschko, Kirk Johnson or Buffalo's Joe Mesi while Tyson could face Oleg Maskaev.

Lewis had been hoping to fight Tyson, but Tyson says he needs at least two more fights before he challenges Lewis for the WBC title again.

Although Lewis has a contract calling for a Tyson rematch, talks are being held for the two fighters to appear on the same card and push the rematch back to ... More details

Man Utd tipped to swoop for Duff
Posted on: 04/01/2003 by: Travel4Sports Administrator

Manchester United are set to win the race to sign Republic of Ireland international Damien Duff, according to a report.

Sir Alex Ferguson is preparing to pay out around ?10m for the Blackburn winger in the summer, says The Guardian newspaper.

Rovers boss Graeme Souness is understood to be prepared to sell the 24-year-old to raise funds to boost his squad.

The Irishman has attracted interest from a number of clubs after an outstanding World Cup campaign last year.

The news that Man Utd are set to poach Duff will disappoint Liverpool boss Gerard Houllier who desperately wanted to bring him to Anfield.

Man Utd profits dip
But Ferguson has already been warned his Duff deal relies on other players leaving Old Trafford first.

"It is fair to say that if Sir Alex wants to buy someone, he will have ... More details
